MUMBAI: Indian equities extended gains on Thursday, tracking a pullback in Asian markets on expectations of corporate earnings withstanding the Europe fallout and shrugging off a fall in the US.

At 9:21 am, the Sensex was up 87.85 points or 0.53 per cent at 16,745.74.

The Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index opened at 16,668.91 against the previous close of 16,657.89. The 30-share index touched a high of 16,756.70.

Nifty was ruling at 5031.20, gaining 31 points or 0.62 per cent. The National Stock Exchange benchmark opened the session below the 5k mark at 4999.60 versus Wednesday’s close of 5000.30. The 50-share index charted a high of 5032.25 and low of 4997.60 in early trade.
