World's 10 most valuable IT cos

A major change of guard took place on tech charts last week with iconic iPhone maker Apple Inc overtaking software behemoth Microsoft as the most valuable technology company in the world. Based on the market capitalisation of its stock, Apple left behind Microsoft for the first time in past two decades. The last time Apple had a higher market value than Microsoft was on December 19, 1989.

However, Microsoft still leads Apple in sales. In the latest quarter, Microsoft reported $14.5 billion in revenue compared with Apple's $13.5 billion. Yet, Apple's performance in recent years has not only made it a darling of the media, but put it right on top of the list of tech giants that includes HP, IBM, Google, Intel and Dell.

Interestingly, Indian's leading software services firms Infosys and Wipro too figures among the top 15 valuable companies with market cap at $31.74 billion and $29.76 billion respectively, according to IT magazine Dataquest. Here is the list of top 10 most valuable companies.
